A unique wet skid pan facility in Essex providing a very real driving experience compared to a simulated exercise.

This one to one training is carried out by experienced instructors who all hold an advanced Police “Class 1” driving qualification. The expert tuition and guidance you will receive will equip you with the best possible chance of controlling a skidding car should it happen to you.

This is a valuable experience for all drivers - it is a fun and informal way of actually learning skills that will also improve everyday driving awareness.

A safety briefing will include learning about what actually causes a vehicle to skid. A vehicle will skid when a tyre loses its grip on the road surface by driver error through excessive speed, harsh braking or sudden acceleration. It can also be caused by adverse road conditions including bad weather and spillages. In wet, snow and icy conditions official figures say that 69 per cent of accidents are due to skidding. This skid pan experience will certainly better prepare you for when you are driving in those more extreme weather conditions.

The first time most people experience a skid is when it is actually happening to them. Most people’s natural reaction is to panic or freeze but after skid pan training you will have the ability to deal with such a situation and have total control of your vehicle.

You will experience the techniques with an instructor demonstration before taking the wheel yourself. We have our own cars on site; you must hold a full valid driving licence to participate.

The skidpan session will include use of both a rear and front wheel drive vehicle and you will receive correction control measures for:

o Rear wheel skid
o Front wheel skid
o Four wheel skid

This experience will combine fun with safety in a secure controlled environment and equip you with a skill that could one day help save your life.

The skid pan facility is open Monday to Saturday for individuals, group sessions and corporate days. We can also arrange competitions for the group sessions.
